There have been many changes to the law surrounding offensive weapons, knives, bladed and pointed articles and corrosive substances in 2022, as a result of the Offensive Weapons Act and the Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Act.

This virtual classroom seminar will bring you up to date on all the latest changes.

What You Will Learn

  • The 3 categories of offensive weapon, the possession of which may amount to a crime under the Prevention of Crime Act 1953

  • Threatening someone with an article or a blade or an offensive weapon in a public place or on school premises
  • The powers to search for weapons
  • Burdens and standards of proof in this area - particularly important when you are advising clients at the police station stage
  • The meaning of ‘possession’
  • Sentencing - adults & children and young people
  • Knife Crime Prevention Orders
