Course Outline
Introduction
There has been an increased focus on siblings in care proceedings, especially following the Nuffield research by Professor Daniel Monk. It is now standard for sibling together and apart assessments to be directed in care proceedings. It is not uncommon for these to be conducted inadequately. Sibling groups can be difficult to deal with in care proceedings especially when adoption is proposed for some but not all of the sibling group.
This virtual classroom seminar is aimed at looking at some of the issues that arise when considering siblings groups in care proceedings and how the courts have dealt with them. It will also look at sibling assessments and some common flaws and will consider issues of contact in care proceedings and in adoption.
