Introduction

Stalking, harassment and revenge porn are examples of offences which mainly tend to be committed in relation to women and girls. Indeed, the government has a specific strategy to combat Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

Over recent years, there has been a greater focus on such offending and this virtual classroom seminar will provide an indispensable guide to many of the common offences sometimes committed within a domestic context other than assault.

We will examine the offence of stalking and compare and contrast how this differs from the offence of harassment.

The offence of ‘revenge porn’ has been introduced to augment legislation relating to malicious communications and the offence of ‘up-skirting’ has been added to the statute books, again updating old legislation which has endeavoured to plug legislative lacunas.

With the Online Harms Bill currently before Parliament, the law in this regard is set to be strengthened further.

This session is aimed at all criminal practitioners from police station representatives to crown court advocates.
