Account Freezing & Forfeiture Orders - A Powerful Weapon Against Financial Crime

Introduction

Account Freezing Orders ('AFRO') & Account Forfeiture Orders ('AFOs') are becoming a frequent tool used by law enforcement and since January 2018 we have seen a dramatic increase in their use.

This virtual classroom seminar will look at how AFRO and AFOs work, what the respondent or third-party options are and the two methods by which an account can be forfeited.

The session will also consider the different strategies that can be put in place to oppose an order, what evidence should be gathered and possible abuse of process arguments where criminal and civil proceedings are both ongoing.
